Is it alright to show funny Civil War videos to Middle School kids?

We are reading "Soldier’s Heart" with my Language Arts kids, a book about the experiences of a Civil War soldier, and to illustrate the battle of Bull Run I wanted to show a funny video I found on YouTube, but my wife insists that it’s very disrespectful to an event in which thousands of people died. Now I’m confused. Would it be ok if I did?

If you want to humour and teach them then you can but if you want them to have respect for those people then you shouldn’t show them the video.

I think they should know the human’s real (wars & blood), at least a back ground of it!

They have another things that they’ll learn in the next levels…
